Hey loves - I was so close to skipping this week’s check in because I was feeling overwhelmed with my exam. But these wellness check ins have been a beautiful way to reflect and check in with myself while also connecting with others. I hope you have been enjoying them as much as I have.
The purpose of “giving myself a year and not holding anything back” is to continue to show up and not let self doubt stop me.
So without further ado, let’s jump into our weekly check in!
Wellness Check In
Medical School Update: We are one week away from my Step 1 exam and - whew I felt it this week. I shed some tears from the pressure but picked myself back up and trusting that my preparedness and my faith will take me to the finish line.
Highlight of the week: I am so excited for one of the new opportunities, I’ve joined the FIGS community as an ambassador! I love the values they stand for such as focusing on wellness for health professionals and building community - it feels like this opportunity came at such a perfect time as I am building “elevate with Kye. More to come - stay tuned!
Low of the week: The pressure of this test is really getting to me - I put a lot of pressure on myself and when a practice exam doesn’t go as I thought it should it is just so devastating. I’m working to study hard while also building my confidence and my faith. “I can do hard things” is what I repeat to myself in times like this.
What I’ve Been Reading
My book this week is the very cute romance novel “The Neighbor Favor". This book will have you kicking your feet and smiling. I am only half way through since I have been studying a lot more this week, but I am excited to finish it. If you’re looking for a fun, comforting romance novel this one is one for you!
Fitness of the Week
My fitness this week was:
Sunday - Hot Pilates
Monday - Rest
Tuesday - Pilates
Wednesday - 2 mile run
Thursday - Rest
Friday - Reformer Pilates
Saturday - 3 mile run
Sunday - Strength Training
This week was another great week for my physical health. I honestly am so shocked that I have gone from 2 mile to 3 mile runs so quickly. 4 miles up next!! I don’t know what I am training for haha - but it is just so fun to push myself and see what I can achieve. It is also a great stress relief!
The BEST fun I had this week was my first reformer pilates class. I’ve done lots of mats pilates and I have loved it. Once I got on the reformer, it was just so great to try new ways to move my body. I signed up for a studio near me and excited to get to strengthened my body through pilates. I also think it is going to be the perfect physical focus for me while I re-start clinical rotations.
Views from one of my runs - so peaceful
Quote of the Week
The quote of the week is a bible verse. After the elections, it really shock up my faith - just seeing how Christianity was used to spread so much hate, racism, sexism, and so much that Christ did not stand for. Spending time in my devotionals, prayers, and Bible reading is helping me continue to craft my personal relationship with God. It is a personal journey, but I just wanted to share this verse incase anyone else was feeling similarly post-elections.
Setting our intentions
This week, my intention is simple. Believe in myself. This time next week, step 1 will successfully be behind me.
Until next week,
Kye
